What an incredible day! On Sunday, our fearless fundraisers took on the iconic Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, abseiling 100 metres down the side of the landmark — all in support of Abby's Heroes! 🌟 One of our amazing abseilers called Chris said 'I have always wanted to do an abseil and so my birthday was a great excuse to sign up and take the plunge. Abby’s Heroes is such an important charity who are making a real difference to the lives of families across the south coast, it was therefore fantastic that I could support them at the same time'.

Danni Dennis, who works for long time Abby’s Heroes supporters Footprint South also took part. She said 'This was a real challenge for me. I’m scared of heights and once I was on the platform of the tower my nerves and a few choice swear words started to kick in. However, I remembered who I was doing it for and went for it! It was such a great feeling when I touched the ground again'.

Also abseiling was husband and wife Simon and Zoe Phillips who were inspired to sign up after hearing about Abby’s Heroes support for local children with cancer and their families. Zoe commented 'It was such a great atmosphere with many of our friends cheering us on, to have fundraised over £1500 between us for Abby’s Heroes is the icing on the cake'.

Despite the temperatures, every single one of our amazing abseilers pushed through the heat and completed the challenge with huge smiles on their faces! We are beyond proud! 💪💜

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our participants and generous donors, over £10,000 has been raised so far! These vital funds will go directly to supporting children and their families being treated on the Piam Brown and TYA (Teenage and Young Adult) Wards at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) — offering emotional, practical, and financial support when they need it most!
