Iconic Walk Along the Sands Supports Abby’s Heroes

Following Lytchett Minster School’s recent production of Oliver Jr., which raised £2,484 for Abby’s Heroes, we were delighted to be part of the iconic Lytchett Minster sponsored Sandwalk event, which took place in early July, with the proceeds being donated to two charities, one of them being Abby’s Heroes.

John Sanders from the school said: “The Sandwalk is one of the highlights in our school’s calendar year, with our community coming together to support local, national and international charities. We would like to extend our thanks to Abby’s Heroes for supporting our event in 2026 and for all their communication throughout the build-up. We look forward to sharing our grand total in the new academic year.”

The event, now in its 29th year, took place on a sweltering hot day, with over 800 pupils taking part in the walk from Shore Road to Bournemouth Pier and back again. Our mascot, Abbycorn, joined in the fun, thanking the walkers, all of whom were wearing their unique bright orange Sandwalk T-shirts, as well as taking the opportunity to top up her tan!

We are extremely grateful to be part of this famous event and to see everyone’s genuine enthusiasm in supporting Abby’s Heroes.”

It was the most fantastic, life-affirming day, full of fun, laughter and a genuine commitment from the pupils to complete the walk and support the two charities. Thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents at Lytchett Minster for their support.
