Fun Day Success for The Rainbow!

The Rainbow Pub in Waterlooville recently held a Charity Fun Day in support of Abby’s Heroes and the local community rallied round to make it a real day to remember!
The day was a great success with a fantastic £3370 fundraised for Abby’s Heroes – there were activities across the day including a tombola, DJ, face painting, cake sale, games, bouncy castle, pool, golf and darts tournaments plus an amazing raffle!
Pub Manager Irene Martin said “It was fantastic to see so many of our customers really get involved in the day. We are part of a tightknit community and their response to our fun day aptly demonstrated how they always come together to support local charities. I’m also extremely grateful to the many individuals and local businesses who helped make the day such a success by supporting us.”
Abby’s Heroes was suggested as the charity to support by Rainbow customer’s Nicola Rutter and Craig Ford who had received support from the charity after their son Jack was diagnosed with cancer. Jack picked up the 'Big Cheque' from the pub on behalf of Abby’s Heroes. Nicola said “Abby’s Heroes have been fantastic to us as a family and when Irene spoke to us about who to support for their Fun Day, we didn’t hesitate in suggesting them. The day itself was fantastic – there was a great atmosphere, and everyone really enjoyed themselves”.
The Abby’s Heroes mascot, Abbycorn, popped into the Rainbow on the day to thank everyone for their support and even had a go on the bouncy castle!
As a charity, Abby’s Heroes can only continue their work in supporting children with cancer and their families by the support of businesses like The Rainbow and their amazing customers. We are so grateful when the community come together to support us. Irene and her team’s hard work organising the day really paid off, it was a fantastic success!
