Andrew ticks off an item from his bucket list – and supports Abby’s Heroes!

Womble Bond Dickinson employee and Abby’s Heroes supporter Andrew Partridge recently had a once in a lifetime opportunity – here’s what happened in his own words!
“I recently had the absolute honour of ticking off a major item from my bucket list, taking part in the Saints Legends Charity Match in support of the incredible charity, Abby’s Heroes. As a lifelong Southampton FC fan, the experience was nothing short of surreal. Walking out onto the pitch, wearing the famous red and white, and lining up alongside club legends including Matt Le Tissier and Glen Cockerill was a moment I’ll never forget. Sharing the field with players I grew up idolising was a dream come true, and to do it all in the name of such a meaningful cause made it even more special.
Abby’s Heroes provides vital practical, emotional, and financial support to children and their families during and after cancer treatment. Their work is truly life-changing, offering a lifeline to families navigating some of the most difficult times imaginable. It was a privilege to play a small part in supporting their mission.
I’m proud to say that, thanks to the incredible generosity of friends, family, and my colleagues at Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD), I was able to raise over £600 for the charity. Every donation, no matter the size, contributes to the amazing work Abby’s Heroes does every day. At WBD, we’re proud to work closely with Abby’s Heroes on a number of initiatives throughout the year. From fundraising events to hands-on volunteering, our team is committed to supporting the charity’s mission in any way we can. It’s a partnership built on shared values community, compassion, and making a difference where it matters most.
The match was organised by Hedge End Rangers an amazing community led football team who are also supporters of Abby’s Heroes – in fact they have the Abby’s Heroes logo on their first team shirts!
The day itself was packed with unforgettable moments. Not only did I get to play in front of a crowd of passionate Saints fans, but I also walked away with some incredible mementos such as the brand-new Southampton kit, and a signed retro saints top that I’ll treasure forever. It was the perfect way to cap off an already unforgettable experience.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who supported me whether through donations, messages of encouragement, or simply cheering from the stands. Your support means the world, not just to me, but to those who benefit from Abby’s Heroes’ incredible work. This experience reminded me of the power of sport to bring people together for a greater good. I’m already looking forward to the next opportunity to get involved and hopefully lace up my boots again!”
