A great weekend at Stoneham

Abby’s Heroes can only continue to support children with cancer and their families by the generosity and kindness of our supporters. We are particularly fortunate to have the support of several sports and community groups, these include Palmerston Indoor Bowling Club, Ferndown Golf Club and Hedge End Rangers. Another supporter is AFC Stoneham who invited us to their recent two-day Summer Tournament which giving us the opportunity to introduce our work to a new audience.

We had a fantastic weekend at the Tournament and fundraised over £1900 mainly due to a raffle which we ran across the two days.  The raffle prizes were kindly donated by our long-term supporters Womble Bond Dickinson. We were helped across the weekend by a wonderful team of volunteers which included Nikki, Anna, Michael, Olivia, Richard and Jill along with extra support from the AFC Stoneham team led by Club Chairman Mark Stupple. Mark commented “ We have loved having Abby’s Heroes as an integral part of our tournament this year. As a community club it is important to us that we work alongside local charities and groups and help term spread awareness of their important work.”

David Fawcett Community Fundraiser for Abby’s Heroes added “We are very grateful to Mark and everyone at AFC Stoneham for making us so welcome. We also received such wonderful support from our volunteers; without them we would not be able to get involved in so many events and activities as we do.”

To top off the weekend our stand was visited by AFC Stoneham player and FA Vase Winner Ryan Cluett who popped along to show his support for Abby’s Heroes and spend time finding out more about our work.
